Well, it's been a while since I was able to do anything for IF, but I felt the need to take a leap and restart my submissions.
I went through several ideas for this one, from the obvious frog leaping to a group of animals sitting around a tree stump looking at what's left of a squirrell who forgot to look before he leaped. I still might get back to that one and change the squirrell to an object that is fascinating them.
This image came from one of those moments when you stop thinking and an idea just pops into your head.
What animal is least likely to leap? An elephant. Why would he leap? Mouse. Why would the mouse want him to leap? Well, so he can have some shade of course and still get a breeze once in a while.
Brilliant! And well done!

ReplyDeleteNice really nice work!
ReplyDeleteLovely work. Well rendered.
ReplyDeleteThat is so awesome. The idea is hilarious and I love the movement in this. You can almost see the elephant sweat and hear the tree crack while the mice just chill.
ReplyDeleteAwesome work!
a wonderful idea! Love the elephant's trunk shading :)
ReplyDeleteI wonder how long the tree will hold!

ReplyDeleteGreat work and style!
Wonderful job! One of my favorite Leaps. The elephant is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteAwesome...really like the color to this and this idea...as you speak of this...elephants can't jump (so they tell me) and they had a Mythbusters on the other day that indeed showed elephants ARE afraid of a mouse...it shocked them to no end that it was true! The bull in the China shop???Didn't knock over ANYTHING...I think they introduced three at one point and they skillfully navigated their aisles...
ReplyDeletereally terrific illo and idea, not going for the obvious! I did a mouse vs. elephant scenario in my moleskine a while back. Gotta love that whole concept!
ReplyDeleteOOOOoooohhhhh, I love the characters. Great illo, I love it!!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is all working as it should. Great expressions. Very animated - full of life. Your main character (elephant) seems to be thinking, which I appreciate a lot. Your choice of colors on the sepia end of things works great and is evocative of artwork on parchment or maybe faded newsprint or an old poster. I like your concept - it's out there and I am enjoying this quite a bit. Great work!
ReplyDeletegreat idea and characters!
